A major side effect of taking Norvasc is peripheral edema, the swelling of the lower legs and feet. As amlodipine can cause blood vessels to dilate, it could result in fluid leakage into surrounding tissues. Although not usually dangerous, patients experiencing peripheral edema should consult with their doctor to help manage the side effect.
