Yes, they can be taken together but you should be aware of a couple things especially, as this is a high dose of both medications.
- Both can be stimulating—may increase insomnia or restlessness. It is best to take these medications in the morning. Also monitor for any signs of overstimulation such as anxiety or tremors.
- Monitor for seizure risk as this is a high dose of Wellbutrin. Bupropion at 450 mg/day is the maximum recommended dose due to seizure risk. Combining with Fluoxetine may lower seizure threshold further , especially if there are other risk factors (e.g., eating disorders, alcohol use, history of seizures).
