Patients are advised to inform their doctor if they start having vision problems, unexplained weakness, high fever or irregular heartbeat while taking Topamax. Additionally, inform your doctor if you are on birth control pills as Topamax can reduce its effectiveness, and you may need use an alternative form of contraception. Do not consume alcohol as it can cause increased seizure activity and dangerous side effects, and inform your doctor if you are taking narcotic pain relievers, muscle relaxants or sleeping pills.
