The chemical rosuvastatin in Crestor blocks the activity of a liver enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, therefore, reducing the amount of cholesterol in the liver cells. This prompts these cells to draw low density lipoprotein (LDL) from the blood, leading in the reduction of cholesterol levels.
